Wilderness First Aid
Participants must have a current certification in basic First Aid/CPR/AED. Physically able to get up and down from the ground and perform limited rolls and carry. This a recertification class, you must have previously received Wilderness First Aid certification to participate in this re-certification. Please wear old comfortable clothing, expect to get dirty and wet, as parts of the class will be held outdoors. This will result in a 2 year certification through Red Cross, and fulfills GS requirements to act as First Aider on trips more than 30 minutes from 911 response (some long day hikes and backpacking). This course prepares you with skills necessary to respond to emergencies when professional help may be delayed or unavailable. This will be a hybrid recertification course.
The first part will be an online and at home participation: you will view the video (link or video sent when participant registers), and review the material in the provider manual and take a written test on the basic information. The second part of the training will include hands on review and WFA scenarios. You must attend and successfully complete both components to receive Wilderness First Aid Certification.
Some moulage will be used and may stain. You may wish to bring a change of clothes if needed.
